Source-specific Multicast (SSM) is a method of delivering information from a single source to multiple recipients over a network, where only the source and group address are needed to define the multicast group. This approach enhances security and efficiency by eliminating the need for receivers to specify which sources they want to receive data from, reducing unwanted traffic and simplifying routing protocols.
