Source-Specific Multicast (SSM) is a network communication method where data is sent from a single source to multiple receivers, allowing for efficient data distribution without the need for complex group management. It simplifies multicast routing by eliminating the need for receivers to join shared multicast groups, instead allowing them to specify both the source and the group they wish to receive data from.
