Upper Motor Neuron 0
Upper motor neurons (UMNs) are crucial components of the central nervous system that originate in the brain and are responsible for transmitting signals to lower motor neurons, which then directly innervate muscles to produce movement. Damage to UMNs can result in a variety of motor dysfunctions, characterized by spasticity, hyperreflexia, and muscle weakness, due to the loss of inhibitory signals to lower motor neurons.
