Type I superconductors are characterized by a complete loss of electrical resistance and the expulsion of magnetic fields below a critical temperature, exhibiting a sharp transition into the superconducting state. Type II superconductors, however, allow partial penetration of magnetic fields through quantized vortices between two critical magnetic fields, enabling them to sustain higher magnetic fields and currents without losing superconductivity.
