Trousseau's sign is a clinical indication of latent tetany where carpal spasm occurs when a blood pressure cuff is inflated above systolic pressure for several minutes. It is often associated with hypocalcemia, a condition where there is a deficiency of calcium in the bloodstream, and can be an important diagnostic tool in assessing electrolyte imbalances and parathyroid disorders.
