Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy 0
Transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) are a group of progressive, invariably fatal neurodegenerative disorders caused by prions, which are misfolded proteins that induce abnormal folding of specific normal cellular proteins found in the brain. These diseases are characterized by spongy degeneration of the brain tissue, leading to severe neurological symptoms and ultimately death.
