Concept
The Q factor, or quality factor, is a dimensionless parameter that describes how underdamped an oscillator or resonator is, indicating its bandwidth relative to its center frequency. A higher Q factor signifies lower energy loss relative to the stored energy, resulting in sharper resonance peaks and greater selectivity in filtering applications.
