Mitral Valve Anatomy 0
The mitral valve, also known as the bicuspid valve, is a critical component of the heart's anatomy, located between the left atrium and left ventricle. It ensures unidirectional blood flow from the atrium to the ventricle, preventing backflow during ventricular contraction, and is composed of two leaflets, the anterior and posterior, supported by chordae tendineae and papillary muscles.
