Low-E coatings are microscopically thin layers applied to glass surfaces in order to reduce the amount of infrared and ultraviolet light that passes through, while simultaneously maintaining maximum visible light transmission. This allows for improved energy efficiency in buildings by minimizing heating and cooling loads while also protecting interior furnishings from UV damage.
