Granuloma formation is a chronic inflammatory response where the immune system attempts to isolate and contain substances it perceives as foreign but cannot eliminate, such as certain pathogens or irritants. This process involves the aggregation of macrophages that transform into epithelioid cells and often fuse to form multinucleated giant cells, surrounded by lymphocytes and fibroblasts.
