The ATP-CP system, also known as the phosphagen system, provides immediate energy through the breakdown of stored ATP and creatine phosphate in muscles, supporting high-intensity activities lasting up to 10 seconds. It is the primary energy system used for short bursts of power, such as sprinting or heavy lifting, before anaerobic glycolysis takes over.
