Acute tubular necrosis (ATN) is a kidney disorder involving the death of tubular epithelial cells, which leads to acute kidney injury and is often caused by ischemia or nephrotoxic agents. It is characterized by a rapid decline in renal function, leading to an increase in serum creatinine and a decrease in urine output.
