The troposphere is the lowest layer of Earth's atmosphere, where weather occurs and where the majority of the atmospheric mass is found. It extends from the Earth's surface up to about 8 to 15 kilometers, depending on the latitude, and is characterized by a decrease in temperature with altitude.
