Concept
Sleet is a type of precipitation consisting of ice pellets, formed when raindrops freeze before reaching the ground. It typically occurs during winter weather conditions when a layer of warm air is sandwiched between two cold layers, causing the raindrops to refreeze as they fall through the colder air near the surface.
