The Resource Description Framework (RDF) is a standard model for data interchange on the web, facilitating the merging of data even if the underlying schemas differ. It uses a graph-based structure to represent information in triples, consisting of a subject, predicate, and object, enabling semantic web technologies and linked data applications.
