A partial eclipse occurs when only a portion of the celestial body, such as the Sun or Moon, is obscured by another celestial body, like the Earth or Moon, leading to a partially darkened appearance. This phenomenon is a result of the alignment of the three celestial bodies not being perfectly straight, causing only a part of the body to fall within the umbra or penumbra shadow regions.
