Concept
Melanocortin System 0
The melanocortin system is a complex network of receptors and peptides involved in regulating a wide range of physiological functions, including energy homeostasis, inflammation, and pigmentation. Central to this system are the melanocortin receptors, which are activated by melanocortin peptides derived from the precursor protein proopiomelanocortin (POMC).
