Lateralization refers to the specialization of function between the two hemispheres of the brain, where certain cognitive processes or neural functions are more dominant in one hemisphere than the other. This phenomenon is most famously exemplified by language processing being primarily localized in the left hemisphere for most right-handed individuals.
