Flux quantization is a quantum mechanical phenomenon where the magnetic flux passing through a superconducting loop is quantized in units of the magnetic flux quantum. This effect is a direct consequence of the wave nature of superconducting electron pairs and the requirement for the wave function to be single-valued around the loop.
