Flat-foldability is a property of an origami crease pattern that allows it to be folded into a flat, two-dimensional shape without overlapping parts. It is governed by mathematical rules, such as Maekawa's and Kawasaki's theorems, which dictate the behavior of mountain and valley folds at each vertex.
