Feist V. Rural 0
Feist Publications, Inc. v. Rural Telephone Service Co. established that mere facts are not copyrightable, and a collection of facts can only be protected by copyright if there is sufficient creativity in the selection or arrangement of those facts. This landmark 1991 Supreme Court case clarified that copyright protection requires some minimal degree of creativity or originality, beyond the simple effort of compiling facts.
