Concept
Extrinsic Pathway 0
The extrinsic pathway is one of the two primary pathways that initiate the blood coagulation process, primarily activated by external trauma that causes blood to escape from the vascular system. It involves the activation of clotting factor VII, which then forms a complex with tissue factor to catalyze the conversion of factor X to Xa, leading to the common pathway of coagulation.
