Concept
Delayed Hemolytic Transfusion Reaction 0
Delayed hemolytic transfusion reaction (DHTR) is a complication that occurs days to weeks after a blood transfusion, characterized by the destruction of transfused red blood cells by the recipient's immune system. It often results from an anamnestic response to red blood cell antigens that the recipient has been previously sensitized to, leading to symptoms such as jaundice, anemia, and sometimes fever or hemoglobinuria.
