The co-decision procedure, also known as the ordinary legislative procedure, is a legislative process in the European Union where the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union must agree on legislation for it to pass. This procedure plays a fundamental role in ensuring democratic legitimacy by involving both institutions in the decision-making process on equal footing.
