Antiparallel beta-sheets are a type of secondary protein structure where adjacent beta strands run in opposite directions, providing stability through hydrogen bonds between the carbonyl oxygen of one strand and the amide hydrogen of the adjacent strand. This arrangement allows for optimal hydrogen bonding geometry, making Antiparallel beta-sheets more stable than parallel beta-sheets.
